The giant robot known as Gigantor (called Tetsujin in Japan) has finally been completed and is now on display in Kobe's Wakamatsu Park.
Standing a full 60 feet tall and weighing about 50 tons, the robot statue cost 135 million yen ($1.5 million) to build as a tourist attraction and tribute to the character's creator Mitsuteru Yokoyama. In times of impending danger or catastrophe the robot can be activated and sent into battle. No not really, but you can check out video of the enormous robot getting its finishing touches here. This does make you wonder, what can't the the Japanese develop, you saw surrogates!
